Equality?
With comments like the following (h/t to Politico.com), how in the world do the democrat supporters not appear hypocritical:
- Liberal radio host Ed Schultz used the words “bimbo alert” to refer to Palin – where’s the denouncements?
- “Her first priority has to be her children,” Quinn (Sally Quinn of the WaPo) wrote. “When the phone rings at 3 in the morning and one of her children is really sick what choice will she make?” – really? Like men (i.e. her husband) can’t take care of a sick child?
- A spokeswoman for the National Organization for Women, noting Palin’s opposition to abortion rights and support of other parts of the social conservative agenda, told Politico, “She’s more a conservative man than she is a woman on women’s issues. Very disappointing.” – so only some women are “women” on women’s issues? Did you follow that?
I think it is clear that the democrats are really nervous about this selection. Gov. Palin is a strong candidate who has the qualifications, drive and determination. Isn’t equality or “equal rights” supposed to be about the ability for any person regardless of gender, age, race or religion to be treated the same. We evaluate candidates for new jobs solely based on their skills and qualifications – shouldn’t the American public be doing the same. Instead, many in the press (you don’t have to look hard) are making this about the fact that Gov. Palin is a woman and is a mother. Boil away the politics, race and genders and Rudi Guiliani’s speech last night hit it on the head. On one side we have a person who is a decorated war hero with a proven track record of bucking the trend in DC politics and getting things done partnered with a person who has defeated corruption regardless of party affliliation and has executive experience. On the other we have a person who has been elected to a few positions but has accomplished or led little to nothing in these roles partnered with a DC politician insider for the last 30+ years without leading any sort of change and between the two of them they have no executive leadership experience.
GorT is an eight-foot-tall robot from the 51ˢᵗ Century who routinely time-travels to steal expensive technology from the future and return it to the past for retroinvention. The profits from this pay all the Gormogons’ bills, including subsidizing this website. Some of the products he has introduced from the future include oven mitts, the Guinness widget, Oxy-Clean, and Dr. Pepper. Due to his immense cybernetic brain, GorT is able to produce a post in 0.023 seconds and research it in even less time. Only ’Puter spends less time on research. GorT speaks entirely in zeros and ones, but occasionally throws in a ڭ to annoy the Volgi. He is a massive proponent of science, technology, and energy development, and enjoys nothing more than taking the Czar’s more interesting scientific theories, going into the past, publishing them as his own, and then returning to take credit for them. He is the only Gormogon who is capable of doing math. Possessed of incredible strength, he understands the awesome responsibility that follows and only uses it to hurt people.
