Terrific psychological profile of Putin…
…by Ralph Peters here. I don’t know much about Putin the man, but Peters seems pretty on-target.
Jumping off from that piece, Abe Greenwald here discusses just how alien the cultural and psychological premises of our principal adversaries are, and how a “we must find common ground” approach is potentially disastrous, given that sometimes there ain’t no common ground. He knocks a presidential candidate for this approach (you can guess which), and the Volgi is happy to point out it’s a fairly textbook illustration of his Fallacy of Foreign-Policy Egocentrism to think that, because you don’t think of a country as an enemy, they don’t think of you that way.
Don’t ask impertinent questions like that jackass Adept Lu.
