As much as your Volgi spends his time…
…worrying about whether insufficient F-22 and naval buys are going to inadvertently lead to war with China, it’s stuff like this that’s genuinely terrifying on an individual level. Because what people don’t understand about the “free” medicine they think they’re going to get under a single-payer system is that whereas under this system, you may not have the cash on hand for the best treatment, but you can organize with your church, a local charity, have local businesses put coffee cans out for you, etc., and eventually you could conceivably raise the money for the exceptional treatment. Under a single-payer system, it’s not in the government’s fiscal interest (and therefore “society’s” for those who believe in socialism) that you get the treatment at all. The whole idea is rationing. It’s a zero-sum game and the government will necessarily try to keep the system afloat by letting people with expensive diseases or expected shorter actuarial lifespans die sooner.
As soon as you ask the government to give you health care, it becomes in its interest to keep it away from you.
Don’t ask impertinent questions like that jackass Adept Lu.
