Ok, I know what “overseas” means.
And I know what a contingency is. And certainly, “operation” is easy enough to understand. But the lamely-labelled “Global War on Terror” is now the “Overseas Contingency Operation.” And that’s close to meaningless. “That thing we do abroad if or in case something happens?”
This appears to be the impenetrable-jargon-laden post-structuralism that doubtless President Obama and the rest of the Ivy-League intellectualoids running the show these days marinated in during the ’80s. And it’s really not a good sign for our foreign policy, because its fundamental premise is that there’s no reality independent of language. Wait, I got it, maybe if we call Iran’s nukes “gift baskets,” people will be really happy when one shows up in Manhattan…
Don’t ask impertinent questions like that jackass Adept Lu.
