I know he and all the other late-night comics have been having the darnedest time finding good material on President Obama, because President Obama is so perfect. He never commits gaffes, and even if he did, he’d never suppress the video. I mean, because if he did, Olbermann would be all over him as a quasi-fascist architect of a personality cult out to overthrow the cherished American tradition of celebrating the humanity and foibles of its leaders, and Stewart, Colbert, Conan, Dave, etc., would be ripping him as not merely stupid and gaffe-prone, but vain and touchy.

It’s too bad Obama isn’t doing funny stuff like being a slave to his TelePrompTer and creating weird, vaguely creepy offices, having a ridiculous parade of failed nominees, not bothering to staff the Treasury Department below the Secretary in the midst of a massive economic crisis, etc. Because the comics could really have some fun with that, you know, popping the balloon of a pompous, self-absorbed politico.
