Uncommon Sense (updated)
The State Department has correctly elected to boycott a UN conference on racism, basically because the UN has no clue what racism is. The Czar says right on! About time they got something right.
Why skip it? Three pretty good reasons:
- The last conference wound up being a soapbox for the Arab states to define Zionism as racism, with a clear message that Israelis are Zionist, and therefore all Israelis are racists. Israel and Canada (updated: and now Australia) have also agreed to not attend this year’s inevitable Israel-bashing party.
- Another goal of the Arab states is to outlaw any condemnation, criticism, or even questioning of a person’s religion…or more accurately, they want the right to murder anyone rolling their eyes at the often un-Islamic sharia (and that would be Šarī‘ah for the oft-critical Volgi, who offers to off anyone who leaves off diacriticals). While no one really wants to offend sacred Islamic beliefs, the entire request by those countries was a demand for blatanty extreme censorship.
- And of course, the conference kicks off on Holocaust Remembrance Day, and who better to make a keynote address than Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, goatherder-cum-Iranian President, who of course (a) thinks the Holocaust never happened but (b) would very much like to see one in his lifetime. No word if the Klan or Aryan Nation will be allowed to provide recruitment updates.
Yeah, those are three pretty good reasons to stay home and organize the sock drawer. Thought maybe Israel and Canada would come over; we could order pizza and maybe watch that Jackie Chan flick where he kisses up to his new Commie overlords.
One would be tempted to think that the whole RaceFest thing is some ridiculous satirical farce…that the UN wants one of the world’s most dedicated and well-armed racists to speak on Holocaust Remembrance Day, and offer up a hate-filled genocidal monologue.
But the real fact is sadder: the UN just does not get it. They think, honestly, that all people are basically equal and good, and everyone childishly deserves a turn at bat. And, like we often do with the major brat kids, we let them bat out of turn, ignore strikes, get unlimited do-overs, and so on, because we just cannot stand the tantrums that follow. To them, how pristinely perfect it is to have Ahmedinejad demonstrate how far we have come by letting him speak on a day meant to commemorate the horror of what he openly wants to do to Jews. The UN actually thinks he will sing a tune of peace and brotherhood, rather than realize the tragic irony of what will surely follow.
Says one UN spokestool: “For us its extremely disappointing and its a missed opportunity, really, for the United States.” No, its truly another missed opportunity for the UN to come to its senses and shut down this repetitive leftist rolling-over in the face of evil. Really.
Proof? There it is. The Human Rights Watch is disappointed we are taking the moral high road. How about this: instead of saying “Well, sorry you decided not to come,” how about “No kidding. How about we point out the flaming racists in the UN and make them throw the bastards out? Would you come then?”
Божію Поспѣшествующею Милостію Мы, Дима Грозный Императоръ и Самодержецъ Всероссiйскiй, цѣсарь Московскiй. The Czar was born in the steppes of Russia in 1267, and was cheated out of total control of all Russia upon the death of Boris Mikhailovich, who replaced Alexander Yaroslav Nevsky in 1263. However, in 1283, our Czar was passed over due to a clerical error and the rule of all Russia went to his second cousin Daniil (Даниил Александрович), whom Czar still resents. As a half-hearted apology, the Czar was awarded control over Muscovy, inconveniently located 5,000 miles away just outside Chicago. He now spends his time seething about this and writing about other stuff that bothers him.
