Is this to be respected or repulsed?
Rep. Massa has been really good about holding town hall meetings and listening to his constituents. So when he comes out and says that he’ll vote against those he represents if he thinks he’s doing the right thing, is that good or bad? It’s admirable in that he’s sticking to a core belief and will take the heat for it. However, Representative Massa and the others in congress are our elected officials that represent us in this representative republic that we have. At what point during his term were these views made clear? If he articulated them during the election and was subsequently elected, then I have less of a problem. More than likely, these surfaced recently as a result of the Obama healthcare reform attempt. If his constituents feel strongly against the bill, shouldn’t Rep. Massa by the definition of his role and position represent those views?
There have been plenty of other leaders in the past that have pursued a course of action because they believe that they were acting in the best interest of those who they represent or defend. It shouldn’t cause you the reader too much strain to think of a case on the other side of the aisle on a contentious issue. So will the public apply any consistency to this? Probably not.
GorT is an eight-foot-tall robot from the 51ˢᵗ Century who routinely time-travels to steal expensive technology from the future and return it to the past for retroinvention. The profits from this pay all the Gormogons’ bills, including subsidizing this website. Some of the products he has introduced from the future include oven mitts, the Guinness widget, Oxy-Clean, and Dr. Pepper. Due to his immense cybernetic brain, GorT is able to produce a post in 0.023 seconds and research it in even less time. Only ’Puter spends less time on research. GorT speaks entirely in zeros and ones, but occasionally throws in a ڭ to annoy the Volgi. He is a massive proponent of science, technology, and energy development, and enjoys nothing more than taking the Czar’s more interesting scientific theories, going into the past, publishing them as his own, and then returning to take credit for them. He is the only Gormogon who is capable of doing math. Possessed of incredible strength, he understands the awesome responsibility that follows and only uses it to hurt people.
