I’m Not Above the Law, I Am the Law!
Your Mandarin has discovered an article by Aaron Klein on the WorldNetDaily web site that outlines regulatory Czar Cass Sunstein’s belief that President Obama, not the courts, should interpret the law. This would probably work if Obama were a dictator and not the president of the United States, although if old Cass had his way….
Has anyone in this administration even bothered to actually read the constitution? And if so, was it actually the constitution of the United States or was it some third-world banana republic’s.
This train of thought by Czar Sunstein should not come as a surprise to anyone that has followed the progressive/liberal/statist movement in this country over the last 100 years. The idea of consolidating power in the executive branch is appealing for two reasons:
1. With power concentrated in the executive branch, change can be effected quickly, and without time for public scrutiny
2. The ability to change from the rule of common law to the rule of regulatory law. In this scenario, the government (in the form of the executive branch) is able to control the citizenry through numerous regulations that would be outside of the review of the courts
Once again, we see a person with very radical, and dare I say, anti-American and anti-constitutional views in a position to influence policy and the decisions of the president. What has your Mandarin upset is that here we have an administration official that has put his radical ideas out there for everyone to see, yet no one in the main stream media will address this. I just hope that the media remembers that when the government has rid itself of all the undesirable groups, that it may just come for them.
The Mandarin, whose real name is 吏恆, joined the order in 1309, and introduced the Gormogons into England during the 18th Century.
The Mandarin enjoys spending time with his pet manticore, Βάρἰκος, or Barry (who can be found in the Bestiary). When not in the Castle…well, frankly, nobody is quite sure where he goes.
The Mandarin popularized the fine art of “gut booting,” by which he delivers a powerful kick to the stomach of anyone that annoys him. Although nearly universal today, the act of gut booting or threatening someone or something with a gut boot is solely due to him.
