ADHD: Cause for Crime!
Mrs. MC, the esteemed SC PhD, writes in to say:
I’m writing to let you know of something much more important: The ongoing victimization of UK criminals who failed to have their ADHD diagnosed before they were thrown in the clink. The last paragraph is the best….
Love you guys!
And we love SC and MC and all our dear readers and letter writers.
One in five prisoners suffers from ADHD? The liberal response should be overwhelming: mandatory testing for all UK citizens, followed by pre-arrest of any showing signs of ADHD. You know, purely for preventative reasons, and whatnot.
Heres a hintand the Czar would love SCs more medical opinion on thisif you put a bunch of guys with ADHD in a confined space with nothing to do but stare at the wall all day, yeah, theys going to go stir crazy faster. Perhaps they could chuck in a fistfull of butterflies for the guys to chase around all day.
Or perhaps reason it out thus: since the effect of incarceration is five times more intense for a person with ADHD, sufferers of this tragic and often figuratively fatal illness only need to serve one fifth the time. And, taking that further, they can be released each night for 20 hours and return for a 4 hour stay each afternoon. Yes, thats most reasonable.
Note: SC bills herself as The Castle Psychologist. Think thats an underpaid, understaffed job?
Божію Поспѣшествующею Милостію Мы, Дима Грозный Императоръ и Самодержецъ Всероссiйскiй, цѣсарь Московскiй. The Czar was born in the steppes of Russia in 1267, and was cheated out of total control of all Russia upon the death of Boris Mikhailovich, who replaced Alexander Yaroslav Nevsky in 1263. However, in 1283, our Czar was passed over due to a clerical error and the rule of all Russia went to his second cousin Daniil (Даниил Александрович), whom Czar still resents. As a half-hearted apology, the Czar was awarded control over Muscovy, inconveniently located 5,000 miles away just outside Chicago. He now spends his time seething about this and writing about other stuff that bothers him.
