Remember Kurt Westergaard? He’s the Danish cartoonist who drew a basically unfunny caricature of Muḥammad back in 2006 that inflamed the Muslim world. Worse caricatures have been directed at every other religion, but Muslims tend to be pretty severe about anyone mocking them.

Anyway, there was another attempt on his life today. He’s okay, but it was understandably pretty scary. The cartoonist has been under considerable security for the last four years, so police were able to respond quickly in his case and wound the attacker.

Money quote: “Islamic law generally opposes any depiction of the prophet, even favorable, for fear it could lead to idolatry.”

The Czar says: Danish law generally opposes private gun ownership, even favorable, for fear it could lead to a person like Westergaard protecting his own life and property for those situations when a police car is not parked outside.

Sheesh.

The Czar of Muscovy

Божію Поспѣшествующею Милостію Мы, Дима Грозный Императоръ и Самодержецъ Всероссiйскiй, цѣсарь Московскiй. The Czar was born in the steppes of Russia in 1267, and was cheated out of total control of all Russia upon the death of Boris Mikhailovich, who replaced Alexander Yaroslav Nevsky in 1263. However, in 1283, our Czar was passed over due to a clerical error and the rule of all Russia went to his second cousin Daniil (Даниил Александрович), whom Czar still resents. As a half-hearted apology, the Czar was awarded control over Muscovy, inconveniently located 5,000 miles away just outside Chicago. He now spends his time seething about this and writing about other stuff that bothers him.
