Re: Prius of Death – NOT!
And not surprisingly, the Toyota Prius out-of-control bit turns out to be a hoax.
The guy made it all up. And there is a reason you do not see this revelation on your news feeds: it makes the media look powerfully stupid.
Here is what the Czar did not understand: why didnt the driver simply put the car in neutral? He claimed, later, that he was afraid to take his hands off the wheel. Except he had no trouble doing so to chat with a 911 dispatcher for many minutes; the dispatcher was also asking him to put the car into neutral, but he claimed the car would flip over.
The Czar hates to deprive people of privileges, but if you are this ignorant about cars, perhaps driving is not in your area of competence.
Something about this was so weird that it did not add up, and the Czar decided that an investigation by Toyota would find nothing wrong with the car. And indeed, not only has the CHP corrected his story about how they responded (the Czars version was correct; his claim that the officer pulled in front of him to jam his car seemed far-fetched and indeed did not happen), but his claim that a Toyota dealers service garage refused to work on his car has also been proven false.
So why pull this outrageous stunt that endangered other drivers on the road? The dumb schmuck is over $700,000 in debt. He was staging a bogus lawsuit.
The Forbes article linked above has a gold mine of a perspective. Basic Internet research revealed that nearly everybody in the world thought this guy was a hoaxexcept, incredibly, the mainstream media who fell for the story hook, line, and sinker. The Forbes author says anyone who owned a Prius knew he could have easily put the car in neutral without taking his right hand far from the wheel, could not have physically reached down to try to pull the accelerator up while the car was in motion, and could easily have stopped his car at full speed with the accelerator jammed down and the brakes depressed normally.
We again must point out that todays mainstream media is probably the least skeptical, most easily fooled, and least educated group that it has ever been.
Божію Поспѣшествующею Милостію Мы, Дима Грозный Императоръ и Самодержецъ Всероссiйскiй, цѣсарь Московскiй. The Czar was born in the steppes of Russia in 1267, and was cheated out of total control of all Russia upon the death of Boris Mikhailovich, who replaced Alexander Yaroslav Nevsky in 1263. However, in 1283, our Czar was passed over due to a clerical error and the rule of all Russia went to his second cousin Daniil (Даниил Александрович), whom Czar still resents. As a half-hearted apology, the Czar was awarded control over Muscovy, inconveniently located 5,000 miles away just outside Chicago. He now spends his time seething about this and writing about other stuff that bothers him.
