More on Private School Tax Credits
Right about here, the Czar asked: So what say you smart folks? Does JS have a solid idea here? Is the Czar wrong in his (ahem) assessment of the situation? Let us know.
And indeed, JTS writes in!
Don’t confuse me with JS, because I have an answer to his question!
The key to tax credits for folks to send their kids to private schools is that it has to be done via the income tax (either State or Federal). Here in Illinois, the excellent Illinois Policy Institute loooked at this question and believes that in the long run, tax credits will actually save the State money (while enabling more kids to go to better schools of their choice):
Always ready to serve you,
JTS
Nice work! Looks like JS might be on to something. Thanks, JTS!
Божію Поспѣшествующею Милостію Мы, Дима Грозный Императоръ и Самодержецъ Всероссiйскiй, цѣсарь Московскiй. The Czar was born in the steppes of Russia in 1267, and was cheated out of total control of all Russia upon the death of Boris Mikhailovich, who replaced Alexander Yaroslav Nevsky in 1263. However, in 1283, our Czar was passed over due to a clerical error and the rule of all Russia went to his second cousin Daniil (Даниил Александрович), whom Czar still resents. As a half-hearted apology, the Czar was awarded control over Muscovy, inconveniently located 5,000 miles away just outside Chicago. He now spends his time seething about this and writing about other stuff that bothers him.
