President Obama’s We Won Moment
Dread and Awful Czar,
When I heard snippets of President Obama’s weekly radio address, I wanted to snort my milk. He can see the big losses coming tomorrow to his party and is trying to hedge his bets…
This is some of what President Obama had to say:
Tuesday is Election Day, and here in Washington, the talk is all about who will win and who will lose – about parties and politics.
And your hope is that once this election is over, the folks you choose to represent you will put the politics aside for a while, and work together to solve problems.
Whatever the outcome on Tuesday, we need to come together….
I believe it’s the fundamental responsibility of all who hold elective office to seek out common ground.
We can spend the next two years arguing with one another, trapped in stale debates, mired in gridlock, unable to make progress in solving the serious problems facing our country.
Or we can do what the American people are demanding that we do. We can move forward.
While Dr. J. is clearly taking President Obama’s snippets out of context, you can clearly see him attempting set the narrative for the coming storm. He was the ‘We Won’ president several months ago, he is now the ‘Put [Republican] Politics aside and work together’ president.
President Obama needs to sound reasonable to insure that he does not have the outward appearance of a villain when the Republican House locks policy horns with a divided Senate and the most liberal president in our nation’s history.
But make no mistake, the message Washington is being sent is not what President Obama thinks it is, so I am happy to spell it out.
Americans do not want a corrupt group of elitist politicians skirting constitutional processes to create a permanent political class by buying votes with our tax dollars and wrecking the greatest country in the world to create a flawed Progressive Utopian Vision.
Please note that Dr. J did not include the word Democrat or Republican in the American citizen’s message to D.C.
There were several shots across the bow. There were 3 Republican Governors elected in 2009. There was Doug Hoffman’s near victory as a Conservative party nominee in NY-23. There was Scott Brown’s reclaiming of ‘the people’s seat’ from the Kennedy family as he beat Martha Coakley (D-Fenway). Of course, D.C. doubled down and passed Obamacare by hook-or-by-crook as a response to the last of these shots.
Add to this that establishment Republicans such as Arlen Specter (D/R/D-again PA), Mike Castle (RINO-Delaware), Lisa Murkowski (Princess-AK), Crist (Whatever-FL) were also ousted in primaries, the message is clear. This is a representative republic and voters, when they are properly motivated, actually matter.
The Republicans would be fools to take this opportunity and join the ‘Get Along Gang’ in the cloakroom. Americans do not want their newly elected politicians to join the cool clique in Georgetown. Americans want them to be a check on the White House and to turn our fiscal train away from the cliff that it has been accelerating towards since (take your pick) 1932, 1965, or 2008.
Americans want grown ups to be the voices in DC. Individuals like Paul Ryan in the House and Jim DeMint in the Senate. Dr. J just hopes that they can speak with the forthrightness and clarity of ‘Puter’s man-crush Gov. Christie (Bad Ass-NJ).
The new majority must remember, the media will hate you as much as Sarah Palin circa September 2008. So if they are going to hate you, please let them hate you for doing the right thing.
Americans don’t want games. They don’t want parliamentary procedure undermining the consent of the governed. Simply put, Americans don’t what the B.S. that resulted in Senator Palpatine becoming Supreme Chancellor by the end of The Phantom Menace.
Let me be clear, if the folks that are sent to D.C. do not do their job, it will be remembered in 2012…and for many unfortunate souls it will be remembered during the primaries.
Best,
Dr. J.
Royal Surgeon
P.S. – My prediction is 70 in the house and 9 in the Senate, including Fiorina in California. I just can’t get past the ‘Call Me Senator’ business.
Божію Поспѣшествующею Милостію Мы, Дима Грозный Императоръ и Самодержецъ Всероссiйскiй, цѣсарь Московскiй. The Czar was born in the steppes of Russia in 1267, and was cheated out of total control of all Russia upon the death of Boris Mikhailovich, who replaced Alexander Yaroslav Nevsky in 1263. However, in 1283, our Czar was passed over due to a clerical error and the rule of all Russia went to his second cousin Daniil (Даниил Александрович), whom Czar still resents. As a half-hearted apology, the Czar was awarded control over Muscovy, inconveniently located 5,000 miles away just outside Chicago. He now spends his time seething about this and writing about other stuff that bothers him.
