Most American Jews May Not Care About Israel
Many American conservatives (Jewish and not) are puzzled by the large scale support American Jews continually offer the Democrats, when the average Democrat does his darndest to smear Israel, support groups who openly want Israel eliminated, and seek to discredit Israeli domestic policies. By contrast, conservatives overwhelmingly and consistently support Israel and recognize her significant contribution to world affairs by acting as an anchorage for freedom in a despotic, theocratic, and often totalitarian region. So why do most American jews stay with a party that seems counter to their interests?
After all, American Jews are expected to support Israel financially. Not that Israel itself needs moneybut hundreds of charities exist to help send people to Israel, to fund private universities and summer camps, and provide humanitarian aid to YeShA (יש”ע, or the communities in Judea and Samaria and Gaza). Americans raise billions of dollars each year, which is sent over to help the Israel cause. At least once a year, temple-going Jews can expect to hear a discussion about the urgency of Israel, and how every dollar donated makes a difference, and how every American jew should be writing a check for whatever amount they can.
And here is the spider in the corn flakes: most American jews really do not care about Israel.
This is a probable shocker to our many Jewish readers; of course, the people who are shocked are the minority who do care about Israel. But let us draw an analogy that may explain this better.
Each year, Lutherans and Presbyterians can expect to hear from a missionary from Africa or Asia during services, and how dire and desperate the situation is there. Or wherever he is. As the congregation nods its collective heads, liberals among them are thinking the same thing: No surprise. Its always bad over there. And when the time comes, they will write their check for $25 and put the missionary on a plane and out of their minds for another 51 weeks. But make no mistake: they do not believe the contribution was worth it, and are doing it because everyone else is doing it.
Similarly, each year, Roman Catholics hear a plea in lieu of the homily about the plight of the nuns. Convents receive very little support from the Vatican these years, and every dollar donated in a special collection will go directly to some ailing convent or another. The conservatives in the crowd shake their heads and think about the poor nuns who taught them in school, and how they subsist off instant soup and oatmeal, and gladly stuff the specially marked envelope. Meanwhile, the liberals shake their heads and furtively drop in $2 into the basket, palm down, so that no one sees the small amount that went in. Because really, the Vatican has millions to spend on the nuns. Why do we have to bail them out every year?
Realistically, if somehow these communities forgot to solicit donations for these special groups, liberals wouldnt do it. Heck, they wouldnt even notice. And if the synagogue forgot to solicit funds for Israel, they would see very little donatedexcept of course from the conservative members and a smattering of liberal donors. Israel, like Africa or Asia, is far away…an alien, foreign place to which they will never go and have very little real understanding except for the annual blah-blah from the Islamophobic Rabbi.
Yes, we are singling out liberals for this reluctance to donate. But this has been established and is acknowledged even by liberal academics to boot.
So what does this have to do with anything? Because if you were to look into the minds of most liberal jews in America, you would find they expect the government to fund and support schools, provide free healthcare, regulate those evil corporations, and tax the rich bastards and their crappy capitalism that make union labor such a wonderful thing. And where does Israel fall? Probably about 807th on the list of things to think about, just behind sneeze guards.
Thus, when Democrats bash Israel, seek to weaken her by strengthening her enemies, and make anti-semitic comments about sending Israelis back to where they came from, remember that most American jews do not associate themselves with Israel. Israel is purely an abstract, annual donation funding problem. Nothing more.

Божію Поспѣшествующею Милостію Мы, Дима Грозный Императоръ и Самодержецъ Всероссiйскiй, цѣсарь Московскiй. The Czar was born in the steppes of Russia in 1267, and was cheated out of total control of all Russia upon the death of Boris Mikhailovich, who replaced Alexander Yaroslav Nevsky in 1263. However, in 1283, our Czar was passed over due to a clerical error and the rule of all Russia went to his second cousin Daniil (Даниил Александрович), whom Czar still resents. As a half-hearted apology, the Czar was awarded control over Muscovy, inconveniently located 5,000 miles away just outside Chicago. He now spends his time seething about this and writing about other stuff that bothers him.
