Synthetic Cannabis : Weed :: Synthetic Fabrics : Style
DT carved this message in the flesh of a dead Myrmidion, and threw this through the back window:
Oh Mighty Czar,
The House of Representatives in my fair state of Connecticut has approved a Senate-passed bill decriminalizing pot – a bill that I, and Governor Dannel Malloy both approve of. Soon having up to half an ounce of the kind bud will result in a non-criminal violation and a fine of $150. Fine.
In the same session, the Senate voted unanimously to make possession of synthetic cannabis punishable by a fine of $1000 and the possibility of up to a year in jail.
Ummm, wha?
I can only assume that it’s some sort of cannabis quality assurance program? Will they be banning ditch weed next?
Our long-time readers will recall that this very group is undecided on the issue of legalizing recreational drugs of any kind. Some of us support legalization, while those of us who are correct on the issue are against it.
Indeed, an essay by your benevolent Czar reveals why politicians are often quite hypocritical on the issue, or create the paradoxical legislation you wonder about.
Also, the legislation may have to do with synthetic cannabis possibly producing long-term psychosis. Which is slightly worse than the long-term neuroses the real stuff induces. Or maybe it is there to increase the sensation of paranoia you lose with the synth stuff.
Божію Поспѣшествующею Милостію Мы, Дима Грозный Императоръ и Самодержецъ Всероссiйскiй, цѣсарь Московскiй. The Czar was born in the steppes of Russia in 1267, and was cheated out of total control of all Russia upon the death of Boris Mikhailovich, who replaced Alexander Yaroslav Nevsky in 1263. However, in 1283, our Czar was passed over due to a clerical error and the rule of all Russia went to his second cousin Daniil (Даниил Александрович), whom Czar still resents. As a half-hearted apology, the Czar was awarded control over Muscovy, inconveniently located 5,000 miles away just outside Chicago. He now spends his time seething about this and writing about other stuff that bothers him.
