Growing Voices Call For A Democratic Alternative
Steve Chapman of The Chicago Tribune provides some rationale as to Why the President Should Withdraw.
There is now a growing chorus, fueled by a gathering realizaton, that (a) the President cannot hope to defeat the Republicans and (b) he does not seem to care about it. Or, worse, he does care and cannot fathom how to correct himself.
Given the President has openly declared himself to be a policy wonk in the same vein as President Carter, we have to think, as we began to suspect long ago, that the President really hates the realities of the job and just wants to go home. Why else compare yourself to Carter? Thats like a ball player announcing he is the next Manny Useless Ramirez.
One of the curiosities about the President, sure to keep historians busy starting next year, is that no matter what crackpot theory you concoct about his presidency, he seems to affirm it. Surely they cannot all be true.
Божію Поспѣшествующею Милостію Мы, Дима Грозный Императоръ и Самодержецъ Всероссiйскiй, цѣсарь Московскiй. The Czar was born in the steppes of Russia in 1267, and was cheated out of total control of all Russia upon the death of Boris Mikhailovich, who replaced Alexander Yaroslav Nevsky in 1263. However, in 1283, our Czar was passed over due to a clerical error and the rule of all Russia went to his second cousin Daniil (Даниил Александрович), whom Czar still resents. As a half-hearted apology, the Czar was awarded control over Muscovy, inconveniently located 5,000 miles away just outside Chicago. He now spends his time seething about this and writing about other stuff that bothers him.
