Obama: For or Against Same-Sex Marriage?
BG lined up atoms, using incredible amounts of energy to get them into an Arial font, to spell out the following message:
You state, “Obama is adamantly opposed to gay marriage. Where are his questioners?”
What do you base that claim on?
During a 2008 campaign TV broadcast, pastor Rick Warren of the Saddlebrook Church in California asked both Obama and John McCain to define marriage. Obama replied, “I believe that marriage is the union between a man and a woman.”
You see that? He simply gave his understanding of the dictionary definition of what marriage is – not what he necessarily thought marriage should be. Sloppy questioning on Warren’s part, and typical slippery evasiveness on Obama’s.
What does Obama really believe? The fact that his Justice Department will no longer defend the Defense of Marriage Act tells us all you really need to know.
That having been said, I can think of about eleventy-seven issues that are more important than gay marriage.
Us too. But President Obama has failed to address same-sex marriage in a pointed, major way: refusal to defend the DOMA is not the same thing as ending it. He is merely passing the buck because, his liberal base believes, he needs to do something visible to show he isnt completely intolerant of it.
The President has also (repeatedly) skipped over the subject or glossed over it quickly when speaking to various groups, and in our opinion, shows considerable discomfort for the subject. He comes from one of two religions that is adamantly opposed to homosexuality, and while the Czar does not think he dislikes homosexuals in particularfine as people, whateverhe has carefully avoided doing anything positive for same-sex marriage. In fact, as you point out, his only really visible move was a refusal to defend…sort of a not negative. And, from the messages we have received via Twitter, the gay community overall is quite disappointed in his utter lack of delivery. And so we base our claim on that.
Божію Поспѣшествующею Милостію Мы, Дима Грозный Императоръ и Самодержецъ Всероссiйскiй, цѣсарь Московскiй. The Czar was born in the steppes of Russia in 1267, and was cheated out of total control of all Russia upon the death of Boris Mikhailovich, who replaced Alexander Yaroslav Nevsky in 1263. However, in 1283, our Czar was passed over due to a clerical error and the rule of all Russia went to his second cousin Daniil (Даниил Александрович), whom Czar still resents. As a half-hearted apology, the Czar was awarded control over Muscovy, inconveniently located 5,000 miles away just outside Chicago. He now spends his time seething about this and writing about other stuff that bothers him.
