Our Reslient System
Your second screed in a row from JAB and the kindly folks at the Doublewide, who seem to spend a lot of time chucking pebbles at cans set up on fences and luaghing to themselves:
Your Czarness:
What–you’ve watched another Republican debate? At first I thought it was a sense of diligence and noblesse oblige. But now, 27 or so debates later, tell us the truth, are you under house arrest with TWO ankle bracelets and a rabid pit bull chained to your door???
Well, at least this debate wasn’t a bore, despite the fact that it featured a bunch of bores.
As you pointed out on Thursday, it was high time for Rick Perry to head back to Texas. Back in August, you could not have convinced me that a 3-term governor of Texas would have had so much trouble transitioning to a national campaign. I thought he’d clean Romney’s plow with his tax plan and his mission to make DC as irrelevant possible in our lives. Shows what I know.
I heard a pundit explain Perry’s gaffe-tastic problems in an interesting way yesterday. All these other candidates made similar boo-boos, but they made them in Iowa in April, when nobody was paying any attention whatsoever. By the time serious campaigning got underway, they could do all that stuff in their sleep.
If that theory is correct, then we must despair of having any candidates other than those who can run for President full-time … for a long, long, long time. Maybe that’s why Paul Ryan, Rubio, Daniels and all the others took a pass.
How can a country this large and wonderful be left in the predicament of choosing a challenger to Obama from, as Mr. Volgi so cleverly nailed them:
Willard Mittens Romney—Brittle weasel
Newton Weltgeist Gingrich—Grandiose flake
Rickroll Santorum—Bitter whiner???????
Huh????I just cannot see any one of them being up to the job you described as “…the real prize is in transitioning our country into something that works better than it ever did.”
Well, I’ll just have to console myself with the knowledge that our Founding Fathers set in place a resilient system, which has withstood civil war, world war and Jimmy Carter. It will withstand Obama too.
Yours from the Doublewide,
JAB

Божію Поспѣшествующею Милостію Мы, Дима Грозный Императоръ и Самодержецъ Всероссiйскiй, цѣсарь Московскiй. The Czar was born in the steppes of Russia in 1267, and was cheated out of total control of all Russia upon the death of Boris Mikhailovich, who replaced Alexander Yaroslav Nevsky in 1263. However, in 1283, our Czar was passed over due to a clerical error and the rule of all Russia went to his second cousin Daniil (Даниил Александрович), whom Czar still resents. As a half-hearted apology, the Czar was awarded control over Muscovy, inconveniently located 5,000 miles away just outside Chicago. He now spends his time seething about this and writing about other stuff that bothers him.
