Consistency isn’t the Democrats’ Strongpoint
Recently, the left was outraged at Komen’s decision to follow their rule of not funding any organization that is under federal investigation. After a massive social media barrage and mainstream media coverage, Komen reversed this decision and decided to continue funding Planned Parenthood. There are nuances here but those have been and could be discussed elsewhere. The left decried Komen for bending to political influences. Ok, ready?
Obama has campaigned on and repeatedly championed getting the United States to reduce its dependency on foreign oil and creating jobs. With his recent decision to kill the Keystone Pipeline project, he has bent to the Big Environment political pressure…or he never believed in his platform that he sold the country. The pipeline could have delivered American jobs and would have likely lowered gas prices here. So where are the left with the hand wringing over someone bending to political influences?
Don’t worry, I clearly realize the difference in my two cases, but I think it’s worth noting the similarities: in both cases the subject took a stance, faced pressure from both sides of the contentious decision, and ended up reversing or choosing a course of action that is antithetical to their original stance. Again, in a broad sense.
It is worth noting here that the national average for a gallon of gas was $1.84 when President Obama took office. Many news outlets report that it has risen over 80% under his administration. They don’t cite their data very well. According to the Energy Information Administration, the national average for a gallon of regular unleaded gasoline was $1.84 on January 26, 2009. Today’s national average of the same (from AAA’s FuelGaugeReport) is $3.51. This is 191% greater than just over 3 years ago or an increase by over 90% choose your math method. Regardless if you believe that there is a credible case that rising fuel prices significantly contributed to the recent economic troubles, it did not help. Gas prices affect so much of the economy that it is a measure worth watching and managing. President Obama has done little to nothing to address it. Or to really deliver on creating jobs. Or on increasing our energy independence. Even when a solution presents itself.
GorT is an eight-foot-tall robot from the 51ˢᵗ Century who routinely time-travels to steal expensive technology from the future and return it to the past for retroinvention. The profits from this pay all the Gormogons’ bills, including subsidizing this website. Some of the products he has introduced from the future include oven mitts, the Guinness widget, Oxy-Clean, and Dr. Pepper. Due to his immense cybernetic brain, GorT is able to produce a post in 0.023 seconds and research it in even less time. Only ’Puter spends less time on research. GorT speaks entirely in zeros and ones, but occasionally throws in a ڭ to annoy the Volgi. He is a massive proponent of science, technology, and energy development, and enjoys nothing more than taking the Czar’s more interesting scientific theories, going into the past, publishing them as his own, and then returning to take credit for them. He is the only Gormogon who is capable of doing math. Possessed of incredible strength, he understands the awesome responsibility that follows and only uses it to hurt people.
