Your Mandarin would ask that the loyal followers of this site take a moment to actively assist in the defense of the Constitution, and specifically the First Amendment.

Regardless of whether or not you are a Catholic, or are a Catholic that uses birth control, now is the time to stand up to the Progressives that wish to eliminate the Constitution with a new “enlightened and modern” document that will usher in a new golden Progressive age. You see, whether or not you want to believe it, or have just been blind to it over the last 100 years, there is an effort to eliminate individual freedoms in this country.

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services rule that private healthcare plans must cover sterilization, abortifacients, and contraception forces religious organizations that reject these practices to provide them despite 2000 years of religious prohibitions and teachings against such practices.

This is a brazen attack on the First Amendment that has been made possible by people giving in on what at the time seemed like trivial or insignificant concessions to what seemed like the reasonable (progressive) thing to do.

For years the Progressives have attacked our flanks in an effort to draw our attention away from the center which would allow them to breach our defenses. Well now that the attack is out in the open, it is time for all those who believe in the individual rights granted in the constitution to take a stand and repel this effort.

Your Mandarin would humbly request that each reader of this site forward to their members of congress either via e-mail, phone, or FAX the following message from the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops:

“Please co-sponsor and support the Respect for Rights of Conscience Act (H.R. 1179, S. 1467). The Obama administration’s decision to mandate coverage for sterilization and contraceptives, including drugs that can cause an abortion, makes passage of this measure especially urgent. Please ensure that the religious liberty and conscience rights of all participants in our nation’s health care system are respected.”

The Mandarin, whose real name is 吏恆, joined the order in 1309, and introduced the Gormogons into England during the 18th Century.

The Mandarin enjoys spending time with his pet manticore, Βάρἰκος, or Barry (who can be found in the Bestiary). When not in the Castle…well, frankly, nobody is quite sure where he goes.

The Mandarin popularized the fine art of “gut booting,” by which he delivers a powerful kick to the stomach of anyone that annoys him. Although nearly universal today, the act of gut booting or threatening someone or something with a gut boot is solely due to him.
