He Wasn’t Really a Nice, Quiet Guy
And so begins the media template.
Stories on the Wisconsin shooting are already portraying the shooter as a nice, quiet guy who left the military in 1998. Quotes from people who knew him describe him as a neighbor who kept to himself. Who else did this describe?
Practically every spontaneous shooter since the 1960s. They all are described in initial reports as that quiet guy who kept to himself, according to neighbors.
Bullshit. As these stories always evolve, you soon uncover that these guys were scary individuals with clear mental health issuesthe list of people who fit this category (as recently as Holmes, as spectacularly as Nidal Hassan, and far back as Charles Whitman) is too lengthy to put here.
Stories that dont get printed involve parents, family, and friends begging the police or other institutions to get these guys off the streets, but until they do something, no one can do anything. For example, when police contacted the mother of James Holmes, her first words allegedly were that police had the right guy.
The Wisconsin shooter had tattoos of a White Supremacist nature, and evidently was increasingly paranoid about non-whites. You will not find these details in mainstream news outlets.
In nearly every case, they leave numerous clues that they are going to hurt somone, and maybe even get themselves killed and end their suffering. But one thing they never are: nice, quiet guys who keep to themselves. Folks in executive protections and security circles know all about this; the entire profile is even covered in popular books.
So why does the media keep running this obviously inaccurate angle? Because the news media wants the story to fit their template: that you never know who around you will turn into a raging killer. Then, coincidentally, you get discussions in the media about a need for stricter gun control.
You do whatever math you want to, from this point forward.
Божію Поспѣшествующею Милостію Мы, Дима Грозный Императоръ и Самодержецъ Всероссiйскiй, цѣсарь Московскiй. The Czar was born in the steppes of Russia in 1267, and was cheated out of total control of all Russia upon the death of Boris Mikhailovich, who replaced Alexander Yaroslav Nevsky in 1263. However, in 1283, our Czar was passed over due to a clerical error and the rule of all Russia went to his second cousin Daniil (Даниил Александрович), whom Czar still resents. As a half-hearted apology, the Czar was awarded control over Muscovy, inconveniently located 5,000 miles away just outside Chicago. He now spends his time seething about this and writing about other stuff that bothers him.
