Are you dancing your way back to me, Master Jedi?

Dr. J. would like to wish The Czar and the Цесаревич hearty congratulations for the Цесаревич’s essay contest win. But The Czar isn’t the only Brag Hag amongst the Gormogons. In addition to ‘Puter, Dr. J. has been known to brag on the Lil Resident and Lil Medstudent now and again. Today is no different.

As our readers know, in addition to being a Sith Youngling, the Lil Resident is a competetive dancer. After her first year, she considered leaving dance so she could enjoy basketball, and other activities, but ultimately decided against it, and had a second phenomenal year.

This year, when she heard the siren call of cheerleading and drama club opportunities at the Jedi Academy, activities she would excel in and enjoy at school, she shrugged them off choosing to stick with dance. That dedication paid off.

The Lil Resident was tapped to be team captain of her dance company last night.

For her age group (10 and under), the coaches select the captains based on a number of factors including talent, work ethic, dedication to the team and the sport, interpersonal skills, respect of peers, a mom who equally has her shit together regarding dance, etc…

While she didn’t talk to us very much about possibly being a captain this year, she was nervous about her chances when she bruised her foot on the diving board a month ago, worrying that it would affect her performance at the outset of dance, resulting in her being passed over.

Dr. J. wasn’t worried as competition doesn’t begin until the winter and that her coaches understand injuries and not making things worse. He also understand that her intangibles (charisma, enthusiasm, work ethic, empathy, etc…) don’t go away when she’s on crutches and her coaches recognize that as well. Furthermore, it is clear to him that her peers look up to her as well. Last week at New Atlantis Country Club, last year’s captain came up to her to chat and out of the blue said, “You know, the captains should be you and Mara Jade, or you and Asajj.”

Dr. J.’s proud of Lil Resident for this achievement, she built it herself, so to speak.
