Two thoughts - The Gormogons

Here are two thoughts GorT had last night between talking with his kids about the Pope, watching parts of the State of the Union and watching all of Senator Rubio’s (R-FL) response.

1. Liberals, in general, see and are voicing their opinion that now is an opportunity for the Catholic Church to change some of its core beliefs and choose a new Pope that will be more open to some of the secular changes around us – whether it be issues from the LGBT community, gun violence, or abortion. Has anyone ever asked these liberals why they don’t raise the same concerns with the same voice about other religions? There are religions out there that are much less tolerant. The Catholic Church, as ‘Puter points out, teaches and fervently believes that everyone – regardless of gender, age, or sexual orientation – is a child of God and deserves to be treated and loved as ones’ neighbor. Second, why do these liberals care? Many complaining aren’t Catholics, so are they proposing converting if the Catholic Church adopts these policies they are pushing? I doubt it. This is nothing more than the liberal wailing and gnashing of teeth and should be given little response other than asking the aforementioned questions.

2. Similarly some liberals are going to focus on mocking Rubio’s water drinking and hand movements in his response. Again, much like the Dr. Carson response, they are trying to distract people from listening to the substance: which was very good. It largely can be focused on the follow excerpt from Rubio’s response:

And the idea that more taxes and more government spending is the best way to help hardworking middle class taxpayers – that’s an old idea that’s failed every time it’s been tried.
More government isn’t going to help you get ahead. It’s going to hold you back.
More government isn’t going to create more opportunities. It’s going to limit them.
And more government isn’t going to inspire new ideas, new businesses and new private sector jobs. It’s going to create uncertainty. Because more government breeds complicated rules and laws that a small business can’t afford to follow.

Hopefully the GOP can capitalize on this. They should hold Obama’s and the Democrats’ feet to the fire: produce a budget, vote on a budget, and pass a budget from the Senate; work collaboratively on immigration reform; work on tax reform. And let’s find a solution for the government’s fiscal issues that avoid President Obama’s sequestration plan. And they should repeat that last part over and over again: President Obama’s sequestration plan. Either the media will have to accept it, or they will challenge it and run into what Bob Woodward already demonstrated.

He is a massive proponent of science, technology, and energy development, and enjoys nothing more than taking the Czar’s more interesting scientific theories, going into the past, publishing them as his own, and then returning to take credit for them. He is the only Gormogon who is capable of doing math. Possessed of incredible strength, he understands the awesome responsibility that follows and only uses it to hurt people.
