Jay Carney’s Version of Events
At last we now know what happened on September 11, 2012, in Benghazi. Press secretary Jay Carney explained it like this, if we put his statements in chronological order.
A demonstration gathered outside the embassy, that quickly became a terror attack. Intelligence forces on the scene, aware that the situation was fluid, immediately knew this demonstration was really a terror attack and contacted the State Department by cable to warn them an attack, possibly caused by an unheard-of YouTube video, was being launched by an unknown terror group.
Unfortunately, this cable was one of millions the State Department received, so there was no way to really know for sure what was going on. The President, who was listening in on the State Departments cables—because no one from the State Department or intelligence community contacted the Presidentimmediately acted: he ordered that we instantly respond to the situation, find out who was responsible, and bring them to justice. With that commanding decisiveness done, the President returned to bed and continued on his busy campaign schedule.
After our ambassador was murdered and the compound abandoned, the situation remained fluid. In fact, the military was so confused that they mistook the Commander-in-Chiefs orders to respond as stand down. Because the FBI assumed the military was doing their job, they took a rest for 17 days.
At this point, the intelligence community made it clear to the State Department that the YouTube video was some sort of signal to attack the compound. With this recommendation, the Justice Department sought to find the filmmaker, in hopes he could lead them to the actual terrorists.
But were they terrorists? The intelligence community contacted the State Department back to state they were, after all, protestors who got a little out of control. These sorts of things happen when the military and FBI fail to do their job, with each thinking the other had it handled. Thank goodness the Justice Department caught the filmmaker and bring him in, where he will no doubt explain his masterminding of the operation as soon as he is given a lawyer.
So the State Department went on the talk show circuit, and explained carefully thatbased on this new information from the State Departmentthat a YouTube video triggered violent protests in which our ambassador and three other Americans were killed.
The Republicans, seeing this opportunity and being so pathetic in an election, asked if the protests were really a demonstration or a real terrorist attack solely to poke fun at the intelligence community and military for being so incompetent. They then found a way to convince loyal Democratswho were on the scene or in command during the attackto lie under oath that this really was a terrorist attack.
Meanwhile, the news media found a guy who provided evidence that he was behind the attacks, but feared no reprisal from the incompetent Barack Obama. Obviously this guy was a FoxNews stooge, because the actual filmmaker was safely behind bars not talking to anyone about his involvement in the attack. There is no reason to apprehend him or bring him in.
But then, in an effort to cover up their mistake, the intelligence community changed their initial story, and marked up the talking points to indicate that it was a terrorist attack, had nothing to do with a video, and produced a list of talking points saying so. However, the State Department, knowing this was a Republican plan to discredit Secretary Clinton, crossed out all these changes to what it really was: a protest, which could be construed as an attack, by demonstrators, who could be seen as terrorists, upset over a video…which could really have been unrelated. Had the military carried out their orders, everyone would be alive today.
So there it is. No scandal here. Jay Carneys explanation fills in all the blanks and makes this an open-shut case of the FBI, military, and intelligence community being manipulated by Mitt Romneys millions to discredit Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton. Just terrible of them to do so.
Божію Поспѣшествующею Милостію Мы, Дима Грозный Императоръ и Самодержецъ Всероссiйскiй, цѣсарь Московскiй. The Czar was born in the steppes of Russia in 1267, and was cheated out of total control of all Russia upon the death of Boris Mikhailovich, who replaced Alexander Yaroslav Nevsky in 1263. However, in 1283, our Czar was passed over due to a clerical error and the rule of all Russia went to his second cousin Daniil (Даниил Александрович), whom Czar still resents. As a half-hearted apology, the Czar was awarded control over Muscovy, inconveniently located 5,000 miles away just outside Chicago. He now spends his time seething about this and writing about other stuff that bothers him.
