Mailbag – Doctor’s Bill Edition
Dr. J.’s post the other day offering up Colin Salmon as the 12th Doctor caught the eye of a few of readers. It even made GorT and the Czar quip.
@gormogons I approve! I had not thought of him, but he’s now on my short list of hopefuls with Idris Elba and Tom Hiddleston.

Adding later in the conversation:
@gormogons I loved you guys for your politics and Christianity commentary, adding Who watcher to the list and…are you sure you’re not me?

We’re pretty sure. None of us are named Mike, nor do we wear 3D glasses. Thanks for tweeting!
A missive came from Operative BAMF regarding this topic as well:
Good and wondrous Dr.,
As a fellow fan of Colin Salmon I would like to point you toward his bravura performance as Superintendent Nathanial Johnson in the criminally under appreciated comedy “Keen Eddie” which starred that great thespian from USMA, West Point, Mark Valley.
Your humble……
Operative BAMF:
Thanks for writing. Dr. J. fast forwarded to two clips showing Mr. Salmon being very serious. They are at 31:31 and 41:15 for our readers.
The show looked interesting enough that Dr. J. will have to kick The Czar of the Castle tele where he can be found watching Kolchak reruns on YouTube so a new detective series can take its place.
Thanks for writing in!
Dear Dr. J.,
I imagine you’ve probably received a number of emails regarding your Doctor Who post by now. I do hate to see Matt Smith leave, he’s turned out to be a great Doctor.
I don’t think most people realize how popular it actually is here in America. Doctor Who is a staple in our household (old and new), and we regularly watch quite a few other British shows – either through Netflix or ordering directly from Amazon UK. This is mostly because we’re kinda sick of Hollywood, and often we can find more interesting shows in the UK (as and aside, I like that people seem “normal”. Even the geeks are runway attractive according to Hollywood).
Anyways, I totally agree that Colin Salmon would be most excellent. However, please also consider Adrian Lester, star of the UK show Hustle. My husband and I think he would be a terrific Doctor. He has the acting chops and can do “quirky” quite well. It looks like he may have been contacted last year about it:

A longtime reader first time emailer,
Operative MR
Dear MR, thank you for writing in. Keep doing so in the future. We love our readers (in that agape way, not that Eros way, our respective Mrs. Gormogons don’t let us date).
Had we known it would take a little Who to get you to write, we would have done so sooner.
Dr. J. took the liberty of pulling some additional footage of him in Hustle for our readers:
