Why Dr. J. loves W.
President Bush would’ve had a plan, and gone before the American people, congress and our allies before leaking battle plans to the media…go it alone my ass. |
Dr. J. didn’t always agree with President Bush, Dr. J. felt that he needed to sack up regarding immigration, and he didn’t wield the veto pen enough for Dr. J.’s liking after the line-item veto was struck down by the SCOTUS. Dr. J. suspects that he was a little ridiculously soft on deficit spending and domestic policy as a carrot to the Democrats so as to insure he the congress’s grudging support in order to keep us safe, and also because he believed in separation of powers, deferring to the congress in all things congressional. Keeping America safe after September 11th, 2001 was his primary goal and executed it well. Dr. J. was also struck with his respect for the office of the presidency and the fact that he seems like such a nice guy, perhaps the kindest person to hold office in the modern era (no disrespect to President Reagan who also seemed pretty nice).
Given the amount of blame that President Obama has cast W.’s way to excuse his own mediocre presidency, one would expect a little payback or retaliation, after all, there is only so much a human being can take. If there is a lesson to learn from President Bush, it is humility, grace and how to turn the other cheek.
Can you imagine Vice President Gore here, he’d be worried about the environmental impact… |
Take this example from his interview on Fox and Friends today. When asked about Syria, he said:
“The president’s got a tough choice to make and if he decides to use our military, he’ll have the greatest military ever backing him up.”
It would be so easy to go through President Obama’s fumbles and misplays up to this point, including drawing a redline he is not willing to cross, deciding he has to cross it otherwise he will be seen as a wuss, then not having a good plan as to either strategy or tactics, or even what the longterm consequences will be.
But then again, President Bush doesn’t have to call shenanigans on the President. We and the rest of the conservative blogosphere exist for that very reason…
