Bottom line is that Obama’s approval rating is now at 37%.

The GOP and Democrats, people are noticing, actually seem to be splitting the blame despite the media reporting that Republicans are losing popularity big time.

Of course, we have debunked congressional approval ratings before: everybody hates Congress, right? But when it comes time to voting, constituencies hurry back to re-elect their respective incumbents. Why? Well, Americans hate Congress, but love their Senators and representatives.

The point is that American approval ratings of Congress can be at 1%; the voter can still only vote for three at most at a time, right? The rest are someone else’s voting problem.

So the Presidential approval rating is substantial for two reasons: one, it represents a person every voting American decides on. And at 37%, it means roughly two out of three people think Barack Obama isn’t cutting it.

Second, this is a major psychological blow. Last night, the Czar was discussing politics with a guy who was surprisingly well-informed about the inner workings of the shutdown; however, the guy consistently mispronounced Speaker John Boehner’s name as “Bonner.” Okay, his arguments were good and sound, but the inability to pronounce the name correctly once tells the Czar that, over all, people don’t pay much attention to individuals in Congress.

As a result, and we hope you understand that our anecdote is not our sole evidence for the claim, the Presidential approval rating is much more significant than any poll about Democrats or Republicans in Congress. The truth is that the AP poll is far more upsetting to the White House than it could ever be to either Sen. Harry Reid or Rep. John Boehner: in fact, the last two men could chiefly ignore the whole thing since their approval/disapproval points are far closer to the halfway mark and are potentially tied within a margin of error. Both men may be relieved to see their respective approval ratings are as high as they are!

The President has no such luxury, and should truly be concerned given that Obamacare’s popular “meme” right now is that it proved to be a massive cock up on its first week.

The Czar of Muscovy

As a half-hearted apology, the Czar was awarded control over Muscovy, inconveniently located 5,000 miles away just outside Chicago. He now spends his time seething about this and writing about other stuff that bothers him.
