We Need a Little Christmas…
Man, it’s been a sucky year or two, Charlie Brown. |
The retail sector has no shame. They have been pushing their Christmas decorating earlier and earlier every year. Indeed, the Charlie Brown Easter special back in 1974 was hip to the commercial expansion of the Christmas season. While the consumer has not turned their eyes to the mall quite yet, Dr. J. has noticed a trend, if his legion of Facebook friends are any indication, anyway.
A number of people are getting their Christmas on early this year. Not long after Halloween decorations were taken down, folks are hauling out the holly. More than a few friends have already decorated their homes, posting pictures, and such. Other friends and colleagues in Dr. J.’s workplace are planning on doing so this weekend. Even yesterday, Dr. J. came home to find Mrs. Dr. J. cooking dinner to one of our iTunes Christmas playlists.
So why is the Christmas season coming upon us prior to Thanksgiving this year?
Part of it is that with a late Thanksgiving, folks are 6 shopping days short, but we’re not even there yet.
Simply put, Dr. J. believes we need a little Christmas soon!
Dr. and Mrs. J. are working harder than ever, and we’ve even had to go Galt a little bit this year. Things are tight for most of us, Dr. J. believes, and those who are able to get away with raising the fees for their services (private schools and colleges and restaurants for example) have done so, but for many of us, we aren’t getting even the cost of living adjustments to our salaries that we were getting five years ago, and this recession has become a stagnant non-recovery for many, and a true recession for us in the medical sector.
Frankly, folks are exhausted from this economic downturn that has not enjoyed a true recovery like recessions past. Furthermore, the erosion of first freedoms, political douchebaggery and scandalpalooza without consequence in Washington have also gotten most Americans down. This is doubly so for the Americans who’ve done things the right way for so long.
So what do Americans do when the going get tough?
It’s not such a bad little tree, Charlie Brown. Now, that Obamacare website… |
They fix it themselves.
In this case, folks are getting their Christmas on sooner to raise their own spirits because they have no control of a lot of the crap going on around them.
So have a little Christmas, now!
Doctor’s Orders!
