IOC member rips U.S. for including openly gay members in Olympic delegation

Mario Pescante, an Italian who has been an IOC member since 1994, criticized the United States on Wednesday for including gay members as part of its Olympic delegation to Sochi next month.

Back in December, President Barack Obama named three openly gay athletes — tennis great Billie Jean King, figure skating legend Brian Boitano and hockey player Caitlin Cahow — to the American delegation. The move was interpreted as a not-so-subtle statement against Russian president Vladimir Putin and his country’s legislative discrimination toward gays and lesbians.

”It’s absurd that a country like that sends four lesbians to Russia just to demonstrate that in their country gay rights have (been established),” Mario Pescante said at an Italian Olympic Committee meeting in Milan on Wednesday, in comments widely reported by Italian media. ”The games should not be an occasion and a stage to promote rights that sports supports daily.”

The Italian Olympic Committee would not confirm or deny Pescante’s comments, but his speech was reported by the Gazzetta dello Sport and the ANSA news agency.

Asked for clarification later by The Associated Press, Pescante said he is not against gays.* “Of course not,” the 75-year-old Pescante told The AP by telephone. “I just wanted to make the point not to let politics interfere with the Olympics.”

Mr. Pescante makes the point well – sports already supports equality for this sort of thing, in that the athlete should be judged on their abilities in their particular sport and not publicly regarding their sexual proclivities. What DL and his ilk are doing is making this an “in your face” issue. As it is with all liberals, every single activity under the sun must have some sort of political edge to it.

Yikes, but this is right across the board. The Czar is anticipating the 2014 Winter Olmpics to be ❤❤❤the gayest ever!❤❤❤ simply because the leftist media has decided This Is It!

Seriously: it has nothing to do whatsoever with Vlad Putin—who is only serving as a convenient foil—because if the Olympics were being held in Bern, Switzerland, we would be seeing gay competitors carrying flags, being interviewed non-stop, appearing in commercials, and being heavily favored. All the media attention will not be on how citius, altius et fortius you are, but on how felix you are.

The Czar would not be surprised to see a rainbow flag marching right along outside the American flag during the opening ceremonies. You know why?

Actually, Island Dweller has it exactly right: because the Left has decided to welcome in gays. It may surprise you, readers, to learn that until quite recently the Left despised gays. Yes, gays voted against Republicans ever since Jesse Helms, and gays openly declared themselves liberals. But throughout history, the Left—who controls liberals’ purse strings and acts as their life coaches—has never liked gays. And why should they? Gays celebrate individualism and self-interest: these are anathema to the Left. Get a bunch of gay males and ask them to march in lock-step, wear gray, and line up in ranks? Good luck.

Yes, gays should be libertarians (and the smart ones are!), but the Left has realized that gays are organizing into a powerful political force. Hence, the Left has begun to re-demonize the Right as homophobic gay-burners, and this proved such a useful wedge issue that the Left concluded, against their wishes, that gays should be the new vanguard in their grasp to retain power.

So we saw a rapid influx of gay characters on television shows (usually and ironically played by straight actors at first), blessings by Christian faiths (including a promotion for gay clergy), a push for gay marriage (still a long way from real legalization, despite media celebration), and now the Olympics.

As the old joke goes, be wary in case the Left makes it compulsory. But don’t worry about that: the Left still despises gays. By 2016, gays will be forced to the rear again. And since (a) no group who joins the Left has ever succeeded in their goals and (b) eventually the gay community will get tired of payback and revenge against anti-gay leaders, the Left will dump them and move onto the next group to recruit.

Figure on Hispanics. It has already begun, but things aren’t moving fast enough for the Left.

*The Czar assumes this is because he was asked point-blank “What, are you against gays or something?” The media follows its scripts so obviously our eyes water.

He now spends his time seething about this and writing about other stuff that bothers him.
