Clan J. was traveling back from Dr. J.’s ancestral home, and stopped by The Maryland House off I-95 at about 4:30 in the morning to void, buy more coffee and some donuts. Where the hell can one buy donuts at 4:30 AM?

Anyway, Dr. J. has not driven from New Atlantis, TN, to Ancestral Home, NJ, in about a decade. In that time, much has changed including his favorite rest stop, which has undergone a $30M face lift. Its sister house, The Chesapeake House, is currently rubble awaiting its resurrection.

More interestingly, he posted about it on Facebook and learned that quite a diverse group of his friends waxed nostalgic about this Maryland waystation as well. Who knew that a pitstop had such a following?
