<\/span> I apologize for writing so tardily. I just returned from an alternate dimension into which I was sympathetically transported on reading your post. Please do not let the Czar kill me.<\/span>

<\/span> With regard to those “No Guns Allowed” signs, I offer the following thoughts.<\/span>

<\/span> When the ISRA says “not lawful” do they mean “criminal” or do they mean “not permitted?” In my state, CCW in specific places is not permitted, but it is also specifically written in the statute that it is not a criminal act, so I carry everywhere there is no metal detector. It is concealed, after all. <\/span>

<\/span> While I would never advocate in print disobedience of a malum prohibitum law written with an open eye toward good intentions and a blind eye toward unintended consequences, I do believe that one should make sure he completely understands the law. Understanding the law, one should then understand the consequences. For example, in my case, IF I carry in a non-permitted area, and IF someone notices, and IF they ask me to leave, and IF I don’t, and IF they summon the police, I am liable to a $100 fine. I can live with that. Practically speaking, if someone notices* and says something, I will calmly but expeditiously leave** the area. Make sure you fully understand both the law and the potential consequences, then make an adult decision.<\/span>

<\/span> With regard to ISRA point 2, some people will not feel comfortable discussing concealed carry directly with a shop owner. Several organizations have posted cards that one may print out and leave with the management***.**** They may need editing for your particular circumstances.<\/span>
