Czar (with an able assist from Island Dweller) and Dr. J have done very fine jobs covering the ongoing slo-mo train wreck that is ObamaCare’s rollout. Even Morning Joe’s<\/em> Mika Brzezinski has had to admit \u2013 through gritted teeth \u2013 that ObamaCare, to date, has been an abject failure.<\/p>\n

To use another MSNBC reference, the hard Left (and its media enablers) went all in<\/a> on ObamaCare, recklessly tying their credibility and the physical and economic well-being of millions of Americans to a hastily thought out health care law that any dime store economist knew was doomed to failure from the get go.<\/p>\n

You don’t believe ‘Puter?  Here\u2019s the bong-smoking, hemp wearing, addlepated liberal \u201cintelligentsia\u201d comprising the New York Times\u2019<\/i> editorial board explaining why America should remain focused on The Great and Powerful Wizard of Oz-bama rather than that pesky law behind the curtain<\/span><\/a>.* Our liberal masters state:<\/o:p><\/p>\n

Congressional Republicans have stoked consumer fears and confusion with charges that the health care reform law is causing insurers to cancel existing policies and will force many people to pay substantially higher premiums next year for coverage they don\u2019t want. That, they say, violates President Obama\u2019s pledge that if you like the insurance you have, you can keep it.<\/o:p><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

Mr. Obama clearly misspoke when he said that. By law, insurers cannot continue to sell policies that don\u2019t provide the minimum benefits and consumer protections required as of next year. So they\u2019ve sent cancellation notices to hundreds of thousands of people who hold these substandard policies. (At issue here are not the 149 million people covered by employer plans, but the 10 million to 12 million people who buy policies directly on the individual market.)<\/o:p><\/div>\n

\u2026<\/o:p><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

Many higher-income people who won\u2019t qualify for subsidies, however, will have to buy policies providing more benefits than they want.  <\/span>Maternity care for those who will not have children is one sore point. But that is one price of moving toward universal coverage with comprehensive benefits.  <\/span>And some of these higher-income people could suffer a catastrophic accident or illness that would previously have bankrupted them, but will now be paid for by insurance.<\/o:p><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

See, those twenty-seven times Obama stated \u201cif you like your policy, you can keep it,\u201d Obama wasn\u2019t lying.  <\/span>He simply \u201cmisspoke.\u201d And besides, even if Obama were lying \u2013 which the NYT editors are decidedly not saying \u2013 we\u2019re only talking about 10 or 12 million Americans, so it\u2019s not like it\u2019s that many people.**  <\/span>And really, in the end, it\u2019s just fine for a president to lie, forcing millions of adult Americans (and children) out of health insurance they chose because \u201cthat is one price of moving toward universal coverage with comprehensive benefits.\u201d<\/div>\n

In sum, liberals believe the ends justify the means.  <\/span>After all, it\u2019s not as if Obama\u2019s giant black lie and its resultant destruction of a private sector insurance product killed anyone or anything, right?<\/div>\n

Meet Ms. Edie Littlefield Sundby, a stage IV bladder cancer patient who lost her insurance because of ObamaCare, writing in this morning\u2019s Wall Street Journal<\/i><\/span><\/a>. Newly uninsured Ms. Sundby writes:<\/o:p><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

My grievance is not political; all my energies are directed to enjoying life and staying alive, and I have no time for politics. For almost seven years I have fought and survived stage-4 gallbladder cancer, with a five-year survival rate of less than 2% after diagnosis. I am a determined fighter and extremely lucky. But this luck may have just run out: My affordable, lifesaving medical insurance policy has been canceled effective Dec. 31.<\/o:p><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

My choice is to get coverage through the government health exchange and lose access to my cancer doctors, or pay much more for insurance outside the exchange (the quotes average 40% to 50% more) for the privilege of starting over with an unfamiliar insurance company and impaired benefits.<\/o:p><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

So if I go with a health-exchange plan, I must choose between Stanford and UCSD. Stanford has kept me alive\u2014but UCSD has provided emergency and local treatment support during wretched periods of this disease, and it is where my primary-care doctors are. <\/o:p><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

Before the Affordable Care Act, health-insurance policies could not be sold across state lines; now policies sold on the Affordable Care Act exchanges may not be offered across county lines.<\/o:p><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

What happened to the president’s promise, “You can keep your health plan”? Or to the promise that “You can keep your doctor”? Thanks to the law, I have been forced to give up a world-class health plan. The exchange would force me to give up a world-class physician.<\/o:p><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

For a cancer patient, medical coverage is a matter of life and death. Take away people’s ability to control their medical-coverage choices and they may die. I guess that’s a highly effective way to control medical costs. Perhaps that’s the point.<\/o:p><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\u2018Puter always thought death panels \u2013 a reference to the IPABs \u2013 was an unnecessarily inflammatory statement. \u2018Puter never imagined \u201cdeath panels\u201d would be an accurate descriptor of the law itself.<\/div>\n

Uniquely, \u2019Puter is unable to speak, read, or write Russian, but he is able to sing it fluently. Geep joined the order in the mid-1980s. He arrived at the Castle door with dozens of steamer trunks and an inarticulate hissing creature of astonishingly low intelligence he calls \u201cSleestak.\u201d Ghettoputer appears to make his wishes known to Sleestak, although no one is sure whether this is the result of complex sign language, expert body posture reading, or simply beating Sleestak with a rubber mallet.
